Title: TESCO WELL DONE AGAIN!!
Post by Teddy on 14.08.07 at 18:02:21

:)

Congratulations to Tesco and great to see them keeping to their promise they made me relating to the use of latex balloons. They are really following through here. I will attach a copy of the story in today's daily mirror page 18 of Tuesday August 14th 2007.

Well Done TESCO  :)

Tesco banned a clown from using balloons - because they're too dangerous.

Barney Baloney - real name Tony Turner - was told kids could have an allergic reaction to the latex.

Instead the dad of three stuck to puppets, magic and juggling at the Crossgate store in Leeds.

AdvertisementTony, 47, from Sheffield, also had to scrap a bubblemaking machine after being refused insurance. He said yesterday: "It's ridiculous. At this rate I'll have no act left."

WELL DONE TESCO AND THANKS FOR SUPPORTING LATEX ALLERGY SUFFERERS. IT WAS A LONG TIME COMING BUT AS I SAID BEFORE TESCO ARE REALLY BEING TRUE TO THEIR WORD  :)

Take care

Teddy :)

That clown really is a clown.   He doesn't need the fancy dress and makeup.   His comment on the news this morning was, 'I don't see why I should stop using balloons just because it might upset one child.' ;D

Well done TESCO  ;D ;D

I must admit I shop at our local Tesco quite often and have noticed there have been no balloons in there for ages.

As for the clown  >:(

I showed these posts to Sophie and she was very upset about what the clown said today.  How could he say that, that one child could be Sophie and who knows what the consequences might be  :o

Still fabulous that Tesco are supporting us.

Karen and Sophie xx

Oh Dear...Not so well done Tesco :(
Yesterday I went into my local Tesco, who I had praised earlier about having used foil balloons, and in the middle of the store there where latex balloons that had been made into an arch and suspended from the ceiling!!! Was it my imagination but did someone mention that Tesco had adopted a latex free enviroment in their stores?!! :-?
I was not a happy bunny as that meant both Sainsburys and Tesco where out of bounds this weekend  >:(
I'm going to post this on the complaints about business' page as well. Will also send an e-mail to Tesco although I am feeling slightly dispondent about his as I never seem to get an answer.

Hi Andy

So sorry to hear that Tesco have let you down. I myself wrote to Tesco and managed to get them to adopt the latex free balloon policy across the board it was meant to be. I had managed to get Morrisons to do this and Tesco had said if other stores adopt this then we could follow suit. Which they did do and I myself have no problems at our local stores or any Tesco I have been to in my travels.

Its a case of doing what you are doing Andy highlighting it under complaints about business and contacting them directly. I always find a letter to head office is best as emailing or contacting the one local store is fine but sometimes it is best to go straight to the top.

Keep us posted as to who it goes.

Take care
Teddy

Thanks Teddy,
I feel a letter coming on as I do not feel the balloons where connected to a johnsons or pampers promotion as they where coloured red, white and blue!

Letter is best Andy and if you can cc it to Head Office so that it is taken more seriously. I am sure that the addresses are on the private listing on this forum.

Keep us posted as to any reply they might send you.

Our tesco was all foil balloons today.  I was so pleased as my reactions are getting scary adn my GP still refuses to refer me back to the specialist.

I'd be inclined to change my GP in that case.

This is ridiculous Chantelle the next time you feel unwell relating to your allergy symptoms if I were you I would take myself up to A and E and make them take it seriously that way. Have you contacted your local MP to complain about this or write to the Health Secretary if you have to. Take whatever measures you can by yourself. I think you should get another doctor.

My local Tesco are good in the main store area with using Mylar balloons but as yet not got a grip on charities and other organisations using the entrance foyer. Have had to find the manager on a couple of occasions recently to get the offending balloons removed. Hoping they have now got the message to check what external organisations are doing on Tesco premises.
