Title: Toothpaste
Post by Wendy on 02.02.11 at 01:32:51

Recently I have had problems with my usual regular Colgate toothpaste, mouth ulcers. Dr says to stay away from sodium bicarbonate , salicylate and latex allergy are my main things buy he recommended kingfisher. Has anyone used this? I have to avoid cinnemite.

I used kingfisher toothpaste without problems for several years but didn't like the fennel flavoured one!

Thx Jen, where did you get it from?

Hi Wendy

Nice to hear from you again. I use fennel toothpaste and you can get it in any good health store. I can only use this down to my salicylate problem but not all people can use it.

Try a little bit and see how you go. You can get the plain bicarbonate of soda one but I hate it I feel it leaves your teeth smelling of fish. It makes me sick.

Hope the fennel one suits you okay.

Take care
Teddy :)

Teddy, now I am confused because of the salicylate issue I was told to avoid bicarbonate of soda ?

Hi Wendy

Not that I am aware of I use it and have no problems and have high intolerance of salicylates.

Have a look on salicylate sensitivity website and you will find out lots of info there but you probably already know this.

We all react differently but don't think there is a salicylate issue with bicarbonate of soda.

If I find out differently I will let you know. Just don't have time to look into it at the moment sorry.

Take care
Teddy :)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sodium_bicarbonate

This might explain more.

I know people with sals issues cannot have epsom salts. Is that what you might be thinking of Wendy.

I have no problems with bicarb of soda in fact when I was very sal sensitive in the beginning I used to drink some bicarb of soda in water to settle my symptoms.

Let me know if you find out anything relating sals to the b of s.

Take care
Teddy  :)

Hi Wendy,
Just joined today and read this message. I am not sure how strict the advertising guidelines are on here (I.e can we post links to sites directly relevant to conversations), so will err on side of caution.

If you enter the name of the toothpaste in any good search engine, you will get an array of suppliers, retail, and on-line.

Hope this helps.

Although we don't allow adverts normally Mike, where latex free stuff is concerned we turn a blind eye. ;)
