Covid Booster
18.01.22 at 09:36:25

My wife, who has the Type 1 Latex Allergy, went for her Covid Booster recently.   They refused to give it to her as they said that if she had an allergic reaction they would have to 'blue light' her to hospital.   She was advised to get her doctor to arrange for her to have the booster in hospital.   Apparently this isn't possible and her doctor is now looking into the matter.   In the meantime she doesn't appear to be able to get the booster.

Interestingly my hubby Lewis who is severely allergic booked his booster at a vaccine clinic at one of our local hospitals. It was just on the list to choose from for him and because he is also in a wheelchair  one of the few that was accessible. He previously had the Astra Zenica and was ok. When he went for his booster  the only offer was pfizer. He was extremely reluctant as in the early days pfizer was  "no-no" for anyone who had allergies or had anaphylactic shocks. The doctor who administered his booster said that was now no longer  valid. He was happy to administer the shot and asked Lewis to sit in the waiting room for half an hour. He was fine and then went home. We too had the initial battle in the early days pf recommendations for him to have the vaccines in a hospital environment but when he contacted the GP, they said they couldn't arrange this.

Exactly the same as Paula Kim.   She had the first two Astra Zenica and it was only the Pfizer on offer when she went for her booster.   However the doctor there just refused to administer it.   He obviously wasn't up to date.
